Oh Kara......
March 29, 2007
We were hit head on...
With a full blown tantrum. Today was the real thing and it was a doozy. My oldest has throw fits before but nothing like this. For about eight minutes we watched as she laid on the floor, kicked, screamed, thrashed, and rolled around. It was very dramatic and quite impressive. Being the good parents we are, we kept doing what we were doing and tried not to let her see us laugh.
Ok, maybe it wasn't the best thing for us to laugh, but you had to have seen it. It was way over the top. She'd abruptly stop and be fine then start up again. She finally stopped and now is happy as a clam. I think more are to come. It's soooo hard to be 2. ;)

Well phooey
I thought I was all set to be added onto the list to get into the PTA program. But lo and behold I am not. Phooey! I went to turn in my paperwork and I found out they can't accept my application until after I take a math placement test. It's been seven years since I've taken a math class and apparently that's past the deadline of when you need to see what you remember.
I did really well in math in school. But I can't remember most of what I did yesterday so the odds are against me in remembering any math too. lol So if I'm MIA for awhile, know that I'm studying up on my math to take that test in the next week or two. If any of you are math whizzes, I could use some smart math vibes. :D

Smart Habits Saturday
I didn't do any extra exercising. But I was again on my feet for most of Monday-Wednesday, so I think that counts. lol
Now for being more patient with my family, that I did really well on! I was so proud of myself and it made a huge difference in our home. I yelled maybe 3 times all week. When ever something came up with my children for instance, instead of getting made, I sat down and talked with them and worked it out. It felt really good and it makes us all happier in the end.
So I'll just add the one this week and keep working on my other goals!
#1 - Don't spend money before it gets into my account.
A. Enter receipts in the same day the transactions take place.
#2 - Do a different exercise twice, for at least 20 minutes.
#3 - Be more patient and understanding.
Check out the Lazy Organizer to join SHS and if you participate this week and next you can be entered in to win some of her organizing bags!

When life gives you lemons, sometimes you get squirted in the eye.
I haven't been the best blogger buddy recently, I've tried to at least read but I haven't posted much. I just finished up my forty observation hours today and that has been the main reason why I haven't been on a lot. It was nice to get them done but it had been the highlight of my day, every time I went. I'm missing it already. One of the physical therapists today told me that he had just read that I needed to get in at least another 20 hours. He was kidding, but it was nice to hear that they didn't want me to go.
Other than that, things right now are kind of up in the air for us. My husband's employer is being a total jerk has been very trying recently. We've found out some information that they want to extend how long employees will be out of the country from the original 3 months, to 9 months. Instead of being gone for two weeks and back for two days, they want to have them gone for one month and back for two days. There's more but I won't bore anyone with details. Right now we have to make some big decisions by tomorrow concerning his job and whether or not I will need to get a job.
It's hard knowing what to do at a time like this. I'm sure we've all experienced it at one point or another. I hope we make the right decisions. I'll post an update as soon as I can. I'll respond to everyone's blogs as soon as I can too.

Picnics in cold weather
Today we had grabbed a bite to eat and I wanted to have a picnic. We love to picnic when we get the chance, but it was late and too cold outside. So my superpowers kicked in and said "hey, we have a blanket and the backseat is already laid down...let's have a picnic in the back of the van!" So we did. And the peasants rejoiced. The girls loved it, which made it worth it. The only part they didn't like, was getting back into their car seats. lol
So, where do you picnic?

So far so good
I made it through my first week of observation for physical therapy. It's been a great learning experience. Today my back had a shooting pain in it and the good thing about working at a PT clinic, is the PT Dr's will work on you for free, woohoo! The one that checked my back, kept saying I had the tightest muscles and called me Little Miss Tightness. lol He put some heat around my neck and an ice pack on my back and I felt much better. Now it makes me wonder if the problems I have been having with my back are more strained muscles and not something I need to keep seeing my chiropractor for. Anyway, it's been a lot of fun and now I'm wiped and need a long nap. :)

Drug Rehab - PPP
This is a PPP Advertisement
Many of us, when we hear the terms “drug rehab” may think of a friend, a loved one, or even a movie star who has gone through rehab. Drugs are a big problem and one that I feel doesn’t get addressed often enough. If you take a look at drug rehab, here you can find a wealth of information when it comes to drugs. You can find out the signs of addiction, intervention information, and treatment. Please take a few minutes to view this site if you know someone who might be in trouble. You could be their lifesaver!![]()
I like clean
| You Are Not Messy |
![]() You're so clean, people have accused you of being a clean freak! You like things tidy, organized, and smelling fresh. Messes drive you crazy, especially when you didn't make them. It's hard for you to live with a slob - or someone who leaves their dishes in the sink. |
I'm not a clean *freak* but I do enjoy a clean home. When I see something dirty, it gives me the creeps. It really doesn't take long to clean if you stay on top of it (that being the key of course). I love how I feel and how my family feels when our home and we are clean.

Be grateful
Today in clinic, a gentleman came in with a hole in his neck. I'm not sure how, but he had cancer in his throat and in one shoulder. Anytime he wanted to talk, he had to press a lever-like thing that went into his throat which gave him air that allowed him to speak. It was pretty gross, so naturally I had to look. You could see pretty far back if you looked just right. He amazingly had a great sense of humor. I'm counting my blessings I haven't had to go through that. It reminded me of a poem:
One day at a time-
this is enough.
Do not look back
and grieve over the past,
for it is gone;
and do not be troubled
about the future,
for it has not yet come.
Live in the present,
and make it so beautiful
that it will be worth remembering.

This is for me
After today, I know I want to be a physical therapy assistant. It was incredible to watch first hand what they do. I also watched the physical therapy technicians work and I know that's not something for me because they did the same four things all day. Whereas the PTA did those four, plus stretching and strengthening exercises. I didn't understand half of what the PTA was saying about what exactly she was doing. She kept referring to this and that muscle and this and that bone and this and that tendon, all of which I'm sure I'll eventually understand.
It was really fascinating, I loved it. Everyone I worked with was so nice and helpful. Two are actually in the PTA program now and that was great to hear what to expect when I get there. Loved it, loved it, loved it! These 40 hours are going to be awesome!

Nerves
Ok, I'm starting to get nervous for tomorrow. It's silly really, how hard can it be to observe someone? I know I have to clean equipment too but I doubt it's much different than me cleaning my house well. Maybe it's the new clothes I bought. Anyway, wish me luck! I hope it goes well and they like me. I could use a good recommendation. ;)

I should pay someone
To go buy clothes for me. It's depressing, seriously. My body is so out of whack it makes it hard to find anything that fits. So here I am blogging about it.
Pants - First, I'm not short, I need length in my pants. Yes there are pants where you can pick between S, M, and L lengths. I always need the L or Tall but the problem I find is usually when they add more length, they add more width. I don't need more width!
Shirts - One word: breastfeeding. I've loved doing it, but my poor chest. It has grown TWO sizes and has yet to shrink. *cry* So I find a shirt that will fit, everywhere that is except the chest area where it puckers, so I have to get a bigger size which swallows me. This isn't all, oh no. Because I have a long torso, most shirts that fit aren't long enough! So I have to buy a bigger shirt to fit my chest, but then to get the length too, I need an even bigger shirt! Arrggghhhh!!!
Why am I so screwed up? I blame the little green men.
Anyway, the reason I was out clothes shopping today was because I needed casual business attire for an internship I'm doing for the next two weeks. I need to get 40 hours of observation in for my major and I want to get it done before my husband leaves. Ultimately, I did find a few things that may work. I just hope they don't shrink.

Maybe this wasn't a good idea
Since my husband and I have been IM'ing each other, he's quite the funny guy. (He's pretty funny when we don't IM each other btw.) So we're chatting and he sends me this link http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap070224.html and says "this describes you hee hee." I pull up the picture and I was very confused. Then he tells me to look at the title "X-rays and the Eagle Nebula." LOL He's always saying I have eagle ears and eagle eyes because I can hear things he can't and see things he can't sometimes. He cracks me up. :D

Most of us have or have used cell phones. I have had two cells phone with two different companies so far in my life. Even though cell phones can be very helpful and come in handy, I had found there was always a problem. My problem was that I could not find the right cell phone plan for me. What do you think?
Recently I received an email about a supposed 3 year old who witnessed childbirth. I've been thinking on the topic and if I would let my own children watch. For me, I would have to see how mature my children were before I would allow them to witness me in full on labor. I would want them to understand what was going on to a certain extent, so as not to frighten them.
So what are your thoughts?

We all know the piece of mind we receive when we have a cell phone on hand. Knowing that even if there is not a land line phone nearby, you are still able to call someone with your cell. I tried
For the first time in eight years and two children later, I played a 40 minute game of basketball tonight, full court. It was both good and not so good. I tried, I really did. I was wiped and had to call timeout twice but it was nice to be playing again. It didn't help that I was the only married person there with children. Actually no one there was even married, just a bunch of whipper snappers. I couldn't keep up well but I managed to get about 8 points. I did receive a nice compliment from a gentleman managing the scoreboard, he said that even though I was beat tired I kept on running. I tried. There were a handful of guys watching us play who were jerks not very nice and said somethings to me but I still gave it my all. It was kind of funny because I knew what I was doing wrong before anyone said anything. I may be *old* but I'm not dumb. Maybe I'll go next week. I need to find a married ward to play with. ;)
