Today was our second day of training to run a 5k. If you didn't read about our first day, you can go here. I did much better today. I didn't have to go to the bathroom until the end. Thankfully a teacher at the school let me in so I could go. She was really nice, she only laughed once. lol I had another friend run with Kara and me and that gave me another reason to keep this up. We went to the zoo this morning so we couldn't run until this afternoon. Not a good idea. We were roasting when we were done. I'm hoping that just means we burned more calories. We did have a rather humorous moment. We came home and Kara IM'd me and said our time was wrong. We've been running 90 seconds, walking 60 seconds. It's supposed to be the other way around. LOL! What's even funnier, it that half way through my run today, I started walking 90 and running 60. So maybe subconsciously I knew that's what I was supposed to do! lol
Stay tuned for Saturday's Day 3!

Car Insurance - PPP

I have been frustrated with an insurance company more than once in the few short years I’ve actually had insurance. Have you noticed that car insurance, in particularly, has had its rates increased? If it’s not one thing it’s another! I feel like I pay more to insure my car and for gas then I do to actually use the thing! Things are getting more and more expensive and car insurance is going that direction too. You can cut some costs by buying your car insurance online and at this point, I am up for anything to help me save money on my bills. My husband and I have two children and plan on having more. We know it is better to have car insurance than not to. But at the same time, we worry like most people do, if we can keep paying for it. So if you have a few minutes, you will want to take a look at The Thrifty Cot. They will help you find the right car insurance while trying to save you money. The Thrifty Cot allows you to look around and find the best quote and then you decide. That way you will end up with the most for your money.

Jell-O to Marshmallow - Day 1
My husband and I have decided to train to run a 5k. We need to lose weight, so we figured why not have a goal to strive for. Three days a week for three months, we're going to work up to be able to run a 5k! I'm really excited. I've always wanted to be in a race but never had the gumption to do it until now. I want to go from Jell-O to marshmallow in three months! (You know, one is all jiggly and the other is firm.)
So Kara and I started today. It was an adventure to say the least. Kara had her two boys plus another boy she was babysitting. I had my two girls plus another girl I was babysitting. 6 kids under the age of 3 made for an exciting outing but it was fun. There was only one downside. When it was my turn to run, I got about half way through before my bladder was ready to explode. I think being pregnant shrunk a certain area. lol But next time, I'm going to do it all! I'll keep you updated on our progress. :)
Mint Credit Cards - PPP

I like having at least one credit card in my purse. Having that little card gives me security and peace knowing that if anything big came up and I didn’t have the money right off hand, I would still be ok. But, there are some not so great credit cards mingling around the market. There is nothing better than owning a credit card that is with a company you trust but also provides you with a great rate. Now you can get a 0% interest credit card. This card is great because you will have 0% interest on purchases until January 2008 and 0% interest on balance transfers to August 2008.

Nose Grapes
Sound yummy don't they? My oldest apparently thought so. She somehow managed to shove a tiny grape up her nose and get it stuck. Oh yes, you read that right. A grape. In her nose. Stuck. I first laughed remained calm and collected. She was great about telling me there was a grape up her nose. At first she wasn't sure if it was a bad thing, but then she laughed. I called the Dr and he was really good about it. We met him in the ER then walked over to the regular Dr's office. (You know you have a good Dr when he tries to save you money!) He tried to suction the grape out two different ways but ended up pushing the grape further back. We were about to try a different approach when the grape actually came out as we were changing my daughter's position. She was a trooper and only cried a few times. I ask her if we should stick grapes up our nose and she laughs and says yes. I hope she really means no. lol So that was our eventful holiday.
Memorial Day
Many mind is occupied with many thoughts on this day. Thoughts of those who have risked their lives for our great country. I think of the husbands, the wives, the children, the parents who have lost a loved one serving a greater cause. My heart aches for them for I cannot imagine how they feel and what they have to go through. They are not forgotten, they are continuing to serve but for a much greater purpose. My prayers are with you and with those you love.
Today is the day to remember these individuals. I also remember those that I have loved and lost. Not serving our country but battling their own cause. I have grandparents who have passed whom I miss terribly. One grandpa I wish I had known in this life. Another grandpa,I miss his home, his smell, his smile, his hugs. I also remember a dear friend that lost his battle with a brain tumor. Sometimes I think I see him. His hands, his walk, his face. He was so young. He was my friend.
What a glorious day it will be to be reunited with those we love! Knowing that one day I will have that chance brings me peace. You will never be forgotten. You are missed and you are loved.

Personal Finance - Credit Cards - PPP

I know all too well about bank account, savings accounts, and credit cards. I know the most about credit cards, how they work and paying them off. When I was first married I didn’t know much about credit cards other than that I was told they were bad by my parents. But I slowly began to learn about the credit card world especially as I tried to take out a loan for my first car. I thought I had great credit because I had never had a credit card or bills. I was wrong when the bank told me I couldn’t get a loan because I didn’t even have a credit. I was shocked! I didn’t understand you needed to establish credit in order to have credit so my mom had to cosign on my first car loan. If you don’t know much about credit cards, go here for information. When you do get a credit card, or more than one, you want to make sure you protect yourself. I have a friend who was subject to identity theft and was told he had to pay upwards of $20,000. He couldn’t afford it and had to file bankruptcy, all because of someone else. To learn more about identity theft you can click here. The more you know, the more prepared you will and you won’t have any surprises like I did!

S.M.A.R.T. Habit Saturday!
Well some things I did better on, others I didn't do so well. I think I'm going to start rating my goals for each week. Even though some are habits, I still have good weeks and bad weeks. The one I really need to focus on is my morning prayers. For the life of me I can't seem to remember to say them! That's going to be my focus this week and I won't add anything new.
#1 - Spending money before it gets into my account - A+
#3 - More patient/understanding - B+
#4 - Say morning prayers - F+ (grr!!)
#5 - Teaching my kids to work - B+

Potty Training - try #2
You may recall our earlier experience attempting to PT. It didn't go so well so we took a break. We just borrowed the Bear in the Big Blue House video from the library about going potty. My oldest was so excited that Tutter (the mouse in the BITBBH) went potty that she wanted to try too. My thinking, it's been three months maybe she's ready.
No. She did try every time she was on the toilet but only peed once. Which is really good! But she didn't recognize to tell me she had to go to the bathroom until it was too late. I ran the garbage's out really quick and come back to her running towards me telling me she went to the bathroom. I said yay! Good for you! Then I realized, wait. Did she go on the toilet or somewhere else? I asked and her response "I went on your bed!" She was so proud. I was devastated. She had peed on my memory foam pillow. *cry* I didn't get mad though. Just said we would keep trying.
She's back in a diaper and we'll still talk about trying to go potty but she's just not ready yet. She tried so I give her A+ for effort. :)

What can't she get into? Not much. lol My oldest has just recently been able to open the fridge by herself. If she wants cheese, she will pull it out. If she wants a drink, she will go get it. This isn't a bad thing really, it's rather cute. But what I don't like is if she gets the cheese out for instance, she will also get a butter knife out to try and cut her and her sister a piece. This is a little scary. She's all about being independent but she's 2! She's 2 and she's tall so she can get into most things. Her favorite is pushing the chairs over to the counter, climbing up, and getting in the snacks. I try to tell her that she needs to ask first, but you know how two year olds can be. Thankfully she can't open the front door with the child lock on it. At least yet. :)

Tuesday Thoughts
I've been thinking a lot about my little family and money. Prices for almost everything is going up. Not just a little either, quite a bit. Things are only going to get worse, price-wise, and if I don't start making better choices now, we're going to be in trouble later. My husband and I have been trying to figure out a car schedule for this upcoming school year to try and save gas. This summer, we plan on leaving the house maybe 2 or 3 times a week, also to save gas. I'm doing better about not eating out too so we have money for regular food. $15 to eat out for one meal is insane, really! I can feed my family 2-3 meals for that price.
Not to mention, we want our children to be able to get into the activities they want as they grow up. There's no way that's going to happen if we keep overspending and get back into debt again. The decisions we make now, does and will affect us later. I'm going to keep trying to do better.
Below are some funny pictures about gas prices. They made me laugh, but it's really true. :)

I can’t really imagine myself as a celebrity. Celebrities go through so much just on a daily basis that I don’t think I would want to have to deal with all of that. Having my almost every move monitored and then displaying it to the public, yeah, that is just not my thing. I think celebrities should get some credit for putting up with all the publicity, good and bad. Paris Hilton for example, has been in the media quite a bit lately. Did anyone watch Deal or No Deal tonight? Oh. My. Word. Did anyone watch Heroes? Oh. My. Word.
On DOND, I can't believe that gentleman went as far as he did. I was shaking watching! I wanted him to win the million. It amazes me how calm and grateful he was for just being there. Neat man.
On heroes, the ending blew me away. I haven't always watched the show or even whole episodes but I pretty much got the jist of it. I love how Nathan came to help his brother. Loved that part! I'm curious to know what the next chapter is about.
Anyone else have some thoughts on the two shows?

We had a great weekend. My husband was home for a few days before having to leave again. We took the kids to our local museum because they were having a free family day. They loved the dinosaurs the most I think. The museum had a Discovery Room where kids can go and learn hands on. I think I had the most fun in there. lol After that we ran some errands and came home to plant out tomatoes. I had no idea how much was involved but it was fun. We had about 20 plants but only planted about 7 and gave the rest away. Our girls loved helping plant them. I hope they grow well in their little pots. :)

I think credit cards can be very beneficial if you use them wisely. When my husband and I were first married, we didn’t understand how credit cards worked and we ended up with five cards total all almost maxed out. Years later we’re almost done paying them off but it’s taken a long time and my husband has had to have two jobs because of it. Credit cards have many benefits but you need to understand how they work. I’m ok with credit cards as long as you have the money to pay off your purchases every month. You can find the best credit cards online and see which is best for you. If you don’t know what type of card to get, you can go here. Remember to educate yourself!

S.M.A.R.T. Habit Saturday!
Is it just me or does it seem like Saturday is coming faster and faster these days? Where did my week go! Anyway, another week down and I have been doing a little better. Entering receipts in the same day has finally become a habit! Woohoo! Spending money, exercising twice a week, and being more understanding are almost habits too. The ones that need work is the exercising before getting on the computer or watching TV and saying my morning prayers. Putting a list up this past week has helped me to remember more, but I have a ways to go.
So with that said, I think I'm ready to add a new habit this week. I've already been working on this but I want to do more. I'm going to teach my children to work more. They do a pretty good job of cleaning up toys. Today they helped me with laundry and I showed them how to put their shirts on hangers (thank you Lara!). It wasn't perfect, but it was cute and they loved it. I think they are really going to like helping out more.
#1 - Spending money before it gets into my account (almost a habit)
#3 - More patient/understanding (almost a habit)
#4 - Say morning prayers (still trying)
#5 - Teaching my kids to work

1. McDonald's - it's easy and we like the food. They have my second favorite milkshakes.
2. Johnny B. Goodes - this is an old-time restaurant and I love it. You get your shake in one glass and one in a tin. One of their hamburgers even comes in a car. It's fun.
3. Elmers - they have the best strawberry crepes in town.
4. Mrs. Powells - I love their soups in a loaf and cinnamon rolls and everything they have!
5. Perkins - I think it's a great family restaurant and they have good food too.
