All I need is an apple

To put in my mouth because I feel like a pig roasting! Just the thought of that makes me kind of sick. lol But really, it's been so hot today with temps around 96 degrees! I feel like the only way to stay cool is to walk around butt naked. I probably wouldn't have any friends after that, but you get the idea. Thankfully we have AC in our apartment or I would melt like the Wicked Witch of the West. We went to the park today and afterwards I told Spouse we had to get Icee's just to cool off. Mmmm Icee's. The perfect summer treat. Next to ice cream of course. ;)

Find Friends - PPP

I really like meeting new people. I have met many great friends in person and many others online. I think it’s really fun getting to know someone new and share interests. What you may have in common with one friend you may have something completely different in common with another. Which is why it is great to meet new people, because we are all so different and we each have so much to offer! I just heard about this great website where you can find other friends online. At FriendFinder you can sign up for a free membership and meet new people almost instantly. I just signed up and it was so easy. Took me maybe 3 minutes and that included the time I had to wait to receive their email to finish signing up. Seriously, this was so easy! When looking for other people to chat with and get to know better, at FriendFinder.com they have it where you can put in preferences. So I can narrow my search to just find people that live by me or look at a certain age group. Sometimes it’s easier to find friends online then it is to actually go out and meet someone.

Give, give, giveaway

I was excited to hear about the July 4th Giveaway from 5 Minutes for Mom. There are two contests I'm going to enter. The first is Krups GVS1 Ice Cream Maker and a 4 piece set of Rosanna Sweet Dreams Bowls. If I won this, I would be in heaven! Ice cream is my BFF and I'm sure I'd use that maker many, many times. We were given ice cream bowls as a wedding present but all of them have broken except one. It would be nice to have cute bowls again.

The other contest I'm going to enter is for a Land's End gift card for a custom swimsuit. I really need a good, new swimsuit and to have one custom made just for me would be so great! I'm tired of the one-fits-all swimsuits. This one would be a dream.

Be sure to check out 5 Minutes for Mom to join in too. Better hurry, you have to enter by July 4th!

Why are they so good?

I think my yummy Oh Henry Bars are going to be the life of me. They are so so so yummy which makes them incredibly addicting. Arrggghhhh! Why? Why! The insanity!

But lo! I have found a solution! I gave a couple of rows away to my neighbors. Now we can all be fat together they can enjoy them too.

Muwahahaha.

Great 2 Disc Cd - PPP

PayPerPost Advertisement

Have you heard of the band The Police? Of course you have! Who hasn’t heard of them! The band first got together back in the early 1980’s but sadly broke up in the mid-1980’s. People were crushed all over the world that they split up but despite their breakup, we can still listen to all their great music. Their music is great! I love a lot of their songs and I hear them on the radio still to this day. With a band that was as hot as The Police, music like theirs doesn’t just go away even though they did. I like that their music was influenced by reggae and punk styles. It gives their music a little bit of a twist. But their songs aren’t so far out there that you can’t relate to them. I think they have a little bit of everything, so everyone is bound to find one song they like. The Police has recently joined back together and have gone on tour this year. On June 5th they released a 2 disc Police CD with all their great hits. You can also get an awesome vintage poster with the CD. How awesome is that? Just to name of few of their songs, “Don’t Stand So Close To Me,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “Every Breath You Take,” and “Synchronicity.” Be sure to check out the video below too!

Biking

Just wanted to pop in quick. Today we rode our bikes to story time at the library. It was nice to bike there instead of drive. I like saving gas money and I like getting out of the house, so double bonus! My legs are sore because we had to hurry but we made good time. Next time we'll try to beat our record. :D

Our day is pretty busy. We have appointments and lots to do here at home. Sorry I haven't been around much to everyone else's blogs. I'll try to catch up later!

Together Again!

I really like The Police and their music. I think they are one of the many great bands that have ever performed. You all know who I am talking about right? You know, The Police, the band that became incredibly popular back in the early 1980’s. The have eight platinum CD’s here in the United States alone. This band is really just a great band. I have personally heard their songs played over and over again year after year. Why? Well because they have awesome music! It was sad when the band broke up back during the mid 1980’s. They have created a huge fan base from when they first got together to even now in the 21st century. Finally, after all these years they are back together and going on tour! How exciting is that? I would love to hear them live in concert after being apart for so long. They have a new two disc Police CD that came out on June 5th with all their hits including “Next To You” and “Roxanne” and “Do Do Do Do De Da Da Da.” Take a moment to see the TV running spot below about The Police that has aired in the UK.

S.M.A.R.T. Habit Saturday!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Last week I did much better on my goals. I really focused on prayers and brushing and flossing. I said my morning prayers 3 times and I brushed and flossed 6 out of 7 days! Everything is has been going really well too. The only one that still needs work is my bedtime. I think I'm going to change it from 10:30 to 11:00pm, which is a little more reasonable right now. I'm going to add a new goal this week and it's to not overeat. I don't eat a ton of food, but sometimes I go back for seconds when I don't need to. So that's my new goal. Happy SHS everyone!

There are many great companies that can be very beneficial resources. With prosper learning they have so much to offer. They are trying to help families and communities. They try to see problems in the community and are trying to solve them. They are in need of funding to help continue their hard work. With education and community development they are going to do very well. But they need all the help they can get to be successful. It’s hard for a company to do well when they don’t have enough money. I love that they want to really help kids especially, and give them an environment to learn the skills they need to. Family Friday's

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Welcome to my second Family Friday post! One thing my kids and I enjoy doing is crafts. Once a week we get with friends and have a craft day. This past week we made magic wands. Now they didn't last very long but it was a fun project none the less.

We rolled up newspaper and taped it. Then we covered it in tin foil and taped that also. Then we taped streamers (you can use tissue paper or crepe paper) to a cut out cardboard star (which we did ahead of time - ok like 5 minutes ahead of time lol). The kids colored their stars and then we taped it to the roll of tin foil and newspaper. It was fun to watch everyone play with their own magic wands. :)

Check out Family Friday over at Monkey Kisses so you can join in too.

Hello, it’s me Michelle here to tell you yet again about a great way to save money. I like saving money, I like having extra money, and I just like having money. Don’t you? I mean really, who doesn’t like saving a few dollars here and there? That money adds up. That money can be used black fridayfor other things like bills, treats, fun activities, vacations. Whatever it is, you can have the money to do it. How you ask? It’s easy if you use black friday and their coupon codes for online merchants. I like shopping online and do it every so often. My husband also likes to shop online and we have found some really good deals. But, I like having a good deal on top of a good deal! Finding a great price then receiving a discount on top of it makes me a happy person. Sometimes unexpected things happen which makes for unexpected bills. It has happened to me on more than one occasion. So it doesn’t make sense to have to pay more for something when you can get it at a discounted price. Saving money now can always help you in the future in case that does happen. My husband and I have been looking to buy a CD rom drive for one of our computers we will be giving to my mom. We have looked around town but everything was expensive. So we’ve been looking online and found some great prices at Newegg. Well, at KeepCash.com they offer Newegg coupon codes. I just told this to my husband and he was very surprised. But happy because that means we can get look to see what discounts are offered at Newegg. I’m excited and so is my husband. What can I say, we love saving money.

My knees are really hurting. One day last week I was in high spirits and wanted to run more than I guess I should have. Ever since my knees have been in pain. I keep stretching and applying heat/cold to them but they're not getting any better. I don't know if I actually did any damage. I'm kind of clueless what I should do at this point. Anyone have some recommendations? Maybe I can wade it out and they will feel better. I'd be so bummed if I couldn't run my 5k. Maybe I need some magic knee dust sent my way. Maybe google has some.

I’ve never been one to want to know about celeb gossip but many people live for it. I feel bad for the celebrities having to go through all that they do. Sure many of them don’t leave perfect lives but heck, no one does. If my life was splattered all over the media I’m sure people would think I had issues too. There are some things that I do find interesting, like the ones who donate money to charity. Those kinds of things I don’t mind reading about. But if you’re into knowing all about celebrities and their lives, you want to check out celebritygossip.com You can even vote on them.

I Rock :)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Well at least Kara thinks so. Thank you Kara, you made my day better! I know of some other great girls that rock too. Here are some of my votes:

Mimo: Despite the fact she *thinks* she has stolen Greg away from me, she does have a great blog. She talks about a little bit of everything and I like that.

Lorie: She always has something new on her blog. I love the recipes she posts and all the fun things she does with her family.

Kate: You will have a hard time finding someone as sweet and genuine as Kate. She has a great blog too.

Veggie Tales Collector: She may have more Veggie Tales movies than I do which is completely wrong and she's relatively new to blogging, but she is great. She has a lot to offer, as a friend and on her blog.

If you know of some great girls that rock, be sure to tag them too!

My oldest and I love playing games and doing activities online. There are hundreds of websites that are fun for kids to look at and to learn with. I get online with my kids almost everyday and they love it. They draw pictures, they play games, the listen to stories, they can color, they learn their numbers and they learn the alphabet letters. I think one of my kids favorite things to do with our computer is being able to use the mouse. My oldest especially because she can move it pretty well and have it do what she wants. I figure soon she’ll be smarter than me when it comes to the computer! We just found another fun website where you and your child can Build A Sandcastle. Just from opening the webpage it looks like so much fun. I invited my daughter over to do it with me and she thought it was really neat. She liked picking out the colors of the sandcastle and adding the cute little extras. Virtualsandcastle.com is really fun for adults and kids to play around with. Create your own and save it. You can also view other fun sand castles that have been made.

Running to a 5k

Today was another day of running. It was way too hot to do the whole thing. We were supposed to run 3 minutes, walk 90 seconds, run 5 minutes, walk 2.5 min, run 3 min, walk 90 sec, run 5 min. At the 2.5 minutes Kara had shooting pains and had to stop. I walked a bit longer and tried to run some more. I managed another 3 minutes and had to stop. This was around 11:30am and it was blazing hot. There was no way we could have run the whole thing when the temps today have been close to 100 degrees. Plus I've been having problems with both of my knees so I hope they get better by this weekend. We did what we could and I know we'll do better come Saturday, early morning this time. :D

More swimming

Oldest and I had another great swim lesson yesterday. She was even more excited to go this last time. She did everything she was supposed to except the part where she's to blow bubbles. She did a few times then wanted nothing to do with it. lol So far she's learned to kick her legs while swimming on her tummy and on her back, blow bubbles, jump off the side of the pool into my arms, and swim with a noodle. She woke up this morning asking if she could go jumping again. I guess she really liked that part. :)

I did have a proud mommy moment yesterday. The instructor had Jerika and was showing her how to use the noodle. At one point she let go and Jerika was kicking and swimming all by herself for about 5 seconds. I was surprised and I think she was too because after the 5 seconds she stopped kicking and sank a little and got water in her mouth. It took a lot of convincing to get her to keep swimming after that. lol I wonder what we'll learn today. :D

Swim Lessons

I have mentioned that I signed up Oldest and I for a Mommy and Me swim class. Today was our first day and it was so much fun. Oldest loved doing everything the instructor told us to do. Of course it helped that the instructor turned out to be her nursery leader and she had two other friends in the class. :) After class, Spouse and Youngest joined us in the pool during the public swim time and we made it into a FHE night. At first Youngest was not happy but she warmed up and loved it. We even had the whole pool to ourselves for 30 minutes. A fun family night together. :)

Burn Notice's Survivor - PPP

PayPerPost Advertisement

Now what would I do if I was stranded in an unknown city without any money or resources? Now let me think about this one because the odds of this actually happening I would hope are very slim. Not to mention I don’t normally think about this kind of stuff. So, with that said what would I do. Well let’s see. First, I would probably try to find some nice hunk to help me out. Or at least give me some money to make a phone call to call my husband. Hey, maybe I could even get him to pay for a hotel room! By myself of course, as I am happily married. But if I couldn’t find a hunk in this unknown city, maybe that’s why it’s unknown, I would look around and ask someone for help. Here’s to hoping the people in this city are really nice but if not, I can always scrounge for food. You know, some people throw away perfectly good food. I can always sleep on a nice park bench or on some green grass and watch the stars. Hopefully the city has some nice warm weather so I don’t have to worry about blankets or coats. Despite whatever I would be faced, I would survive. I am a survivor and I can endure anything I put my mind too. With that said, if you like thinking about this kind of thing you’re going to really like USA Network's Burn Notice. Starting on June 28th, a CIA Operative by the name of Michael Weston will show you just how to survive in this type of situation. Look here for more information.

Be careful

We had a huge fire here in our city yesterday. We could see the flames from our house as it burned across the mountain side. My kids loved seeing the water planes fly over head but at the same time it was a little scary. The fire was only a few miles away from us and has burned over 1500 acres of land. It's still burning today but the local fire department is hoping to have it contained by tonight. Thankfully no one has been hurt. Just be careful this summer with the temperature being so hot.

It's a Monday

It's almost 2pm and I finally have a moment to sit down. This morning we went running with Kara and that went pretty well. The last time we ran I did a few extra laps and I think I hurt my knees in the process. But today they loosened up a bit. It feels good to be out exercising.

After we ran, we headed to the park for the free lunches the school provides. We're teaching the kids to play Red Rover and Duck, Duck, Goose. It's really cute to watch them learn something new.

Then we headed to the store for swim diapers. I just signed up my oldest and I for a swim class this week which should be fun. While at the store we also found a great deal on some items for Christmas. We've never been into buying Christmas presents this early, but this year we have a little already.

So there's our day. Hopefully this post makes sense, I'm beat. lol

You Are Not Messy

You're so clean, people have accused you of being a clean freak!
You like things tidy, organized, and smelling fresh.
Messes drive you crazy, especially when you didn't make them.
It's hard for you to live with a slob - or someone who leaves their dishes in the sink.

S.M.A.R.T. Habit Saturday!

Well surprise, surprise I didn't do well on my prayers or going to bed early or even flossing/brushing. I'm making a huge sign to put by my bed for prayers. If that doesn't work, I'm going to put a huge rock right at the side of my bed so I kick it when I get up. As for going to bed early, I tried. One night I was about to but one of my kids woke up and needed me. The other nights, my husband has been letting me take a nap during the day so I'm not as tired at night. But I'll keep trying. As for my teeth, I've just been lazy.

With that said, I'm sticking to my goals and I'm going to make another list. A brightly colored list so it stands out! One of these days I'll get these all to be habits and get A+'s across the board. I can dream right? lol

#1 - Spending money before it gets into my account - A+
A. Enter receipts same day - A-

#2 - Exercise at least three times a week - A+

#3 - More patient/understanding - A-

#4 - Say morning prayers - D- (only did this once)

#5 - Teaching my kids to work - B+

#6 - In bed by 10:30pm or sooner - F+

#7 - Brush/floss everyday - D+

Your Hotel Reservations - PPP

PayPerPost Advertisement

I enjoy camping outdoors and I don’t even mind sleeping in a trailer. But, more often than not I prefer to sleep in a hotel. I mean come on, at a hotel you can get room service, you can exercise in a workout room, and you can swim in a pool. Plus, I don’t have to clean up after everyone! Not to mention a lot of hotels have restaurants, which is rather convenient for my little family. So yes, it is nice to have all the amenities that a hotel offers. But sometimes it can be very difficult finding a good hotel with a great rate. Sure, I’ve seen some pretty good deals but the hotel looks like a roach motel. I’m sure everyone knows what I’m talking about. Now you can find Cheap Hotels but they are nice too at hotelreservations.com. This is a great all in one website. Type in where you want to stay, the date you will be there, and how many people will be staying in the room and then choose from the selection of hotels. I like that hotelreservations.com has pictures of the hotels and the rooms they offer because then I can decide if it’s right for my family. If you need more than just a hotel room, you can also get airline flights, rent a car, book a vacation rental or even a vacation package. Hotelreservations.com has competitive prices and great discounts. Through the summer, be sure to check out their Summer Gas Rebate offer where you can get $30 back. This is huge where gas prices have been so high and will keep going up. So the next time you travel, be sure to check this website for some great savings and less hassle. I know my husband and I will!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Lorie told me about this from Monkey Kisses. Anyone can join, here's what you do:

"Write about something You and your family have done together over the past week or plan on doing, whether it be watching a family friendly movie, a fabulous family recipe, a fun family recipe your child(ren) helped with, a fantastic family game, products your family thinks are far out, or just simply taking a family trip out and about. Whatever it may be we would love to hear about it!"

So one thing my family does is watch The Wiggles. We are Wiggles fans! It's kind of funny because we have never seen an episode until just a few weeks ago. (Greg and Anthony are my favorites :D ) Anyway, when a Wiggles movie is on, we all dance and wiggle together. Not only is a great workout for us (no wonder those guys are so slim) but our kids love that we do it with them.

Does any else Wiggle? :D

Used Car Advertising - PPP

Buying a car takes a lot of time and research. Well at least it should in my personal opinion. There are people who drive to the first used car lot they see and buy a car just kind of random and out of the blue. That is not what I do though. The last car we bought, my husband and I searched for months. We looked online, we looked in the newspaper, and we read reviews. We did everything we could to be informed about what decision to make when we bought a car. It took a long time and at one point I felt like we would never buy a car because we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for. But we finally did and we love it! I’m glad that when it comes to buying cars, especially Used Cars, that there are many resources available. At BuyYourCar they have a great selection of makes and models for you to choose from. Feel free to view their standard listings or list by make or price. You can also list a car you have that you are trying to sell on their website. 7 Random Facts Meme

Lorie tagged me for this meme (sorry I'm late). Here are seven random facts about me.

1. I was fitted for a new bra today. (This hasn't happened in a very, very long time.)

2. I enjoy playing group board games.

3. I like watching The Wiggles with my kids.

4. I wash my dishes in this order usually: glasses, flatware, plates, bowls, misc items, pots/pans.

5. I like to play PlayStation/Nintendo games.

6. Our kitchen garbage is under the sink so I have to open the door to get to it. It gives me the creeps touching the handle so I have to immediately wash my hands after throwing something away.

7. I have to do my oldest's hair before we leave the house (or she can wear a hat) because it drives me nuts to have it all messed up. lol

You're supposed to tag 7 people but I only have 6:

Spouse
Mimo

Yay for clean cars!

I love driving a clean car. There's just something about it that makes me really happy. I love not having anything on the floor that the girls can trip over and I like all my windows cleaned. There's a great place here in our town where you can vacuum for free if you buy a car wash. So we took 15 minutes and vacuumed the whole inside. It's amazing the stuff we found under the girls' car seats. We took them out and well, it was exciting. lol We wiped off everything on the inside, then had the outside washed. Spouse later waxed the car and shined the tires. It looks brand new and I love it. Nothing beats a clean car. Well, except maybe a blizzard from DQ. :D

Summer Fun

I love summertime because we get out of the house more. We go to the park, we run, we play on the grass, we go for walks, we visit the zoo and pet stores, and we enjoy storytime at the library. My favorite part of this summer though includes three things. First, my husband is home and for the first time in about 2 years we have quality family time together. Second, we plan on camping quite a bit. Lastly, we just bought a bike trailer and have been able to bike as a family. The girls love it and so do we! I can't wait to go biking again later today.

I am the one that gets paid and the only thing I have to do is take 5 minutes here and there to make these advertised posts. This isn’t hard! I’ve made over $500, more money than I would have made working at a minimum waged job. This is why I keep this up and I’ve learned about some great websites online. But my favorite part is the money! Right now, PayPerPost has just raised another $7 million! What will they do with their money? What do you think they should do with it? I think they should get even better companies to make opportunities available to people like me that are worth more money. That would make me very happy. PayPerPost is already making posts that range from $10.77 to $70 to $700 available to anyone for the next week. I’m so excited! I could really use the extra money! Below is the press release about the money PPP has raised.

Draper Fisher Jurvetson leads round and joins Board of Directors

ORLANDO, FL – (June 12, 2007) – PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers and other consumer content creators, today announced it has completed a $7 million second round investment led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, an investor in the company's Series A and one of the world’s leading high-technology venture capital firms. The financing brings the total amount of capital raised by PayPerPost to over $10 million, giving the company considerable resources for further development as the industry’s leading Consumer Generated Advertising marketplace. Additional participants in the round include existing investors Inflexion Partners and Village Ventures as well as new investor DFJ Gotham. With this investment, DFJ Managing Director Josh Stein also joins PayPerPost’s Board of Directors.

“PayPerPost created this exciting new advertising space and has established itself as the industry leader,” said Ted Murphy, chief executive officer of PayPerPost. “Although we’ve only used a portion of our first round capital, this added support from investors unlocks significant growth potential. Our content creator and advertiser ROI metrics clearly demonstrate the upside for PayPerPost’s model. We intend to use this capital to build the infrastructure, visibility and professional expertise necessary to reach and retain a greater network of advertisers and content creators than ever before.”
