Time to Cook

I found this recipe from Lorie and it was super yummy! I altered my recipe a little and below is how I did it. I made a second batch and it's in my freezer. Let me know if you try it!

Easy Spaghetti Bake

Spaghetti (we used a full bag)
8 oz sour cream (I added a little more)
8 oz cream cheese (I would double)
1+ lb ground beef
1-2 jars spaghetti sauce (we added salsa too)
2-4 cups mozzarella cheese (I did about 6)
~
Cook spaghetti noodles then add to cooked ground beef and mix in with favorite spaghetti sauce (and salsa). Mix sour cream and cream cheese together. Put the mixed noodles in the bottom of the 9x13 pan. Spread noodles with sour cream/cream cheese mixture and top with mozzarella cheese. Top with meat sauce. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes, until warmed through and cheese is melted.

Freezing it was so easy! Put in 2 small pans and freeze one of them. Line the pan to be frozen with greased tin foil. After casserole is frozen, remove hardened casserole in foil, wrap and label. Write cooking instructions on foil. To use, thaw in refrigerator overnight and then bake as directed if not yet baked. Or simply reheat in microwave if previously cooked or cook directly from the freezer and bake for 1-1/2 to 2 hours at 350-degrees.

Swimming again

I've signed up Youngest and I for a swimming class and it's been fun. She swims more than Eldest did, but also prefers to sit on the side of the pool playing with the water toys. She's so cute in the water and gets excited every time we throw a toy and swim to it. Last night for FHE we swam as a family and the girls were adorable. Their favorite part was jumping into mommy and daddy's arms. Swimming is a fun and relatively inexpensive way to spend some family time together. :)

Tired

I'm wiped today. Darn Harry Potter book for being so good and keeping me up late! lol We were up reading until almost 3am last night. Then it was too hot to fall asleep comfortably. I think we finally dozed around 4am and I had to be up at 8:30. I'm trying to take a nap but it's hard to do with three children and Harry Potter on my mind. Good thing I'm halfway through the book. Then I can get more sleep right? lol

We slept in!

Oh it was so nice! The girls go down at 7 and usually get up around 7. This has been great except that Youngest still wakes up in the middle of the night wanting a drink of water. I've been letting her have one because it puts her right back to sleep and I've been too tired. But I know it's not good for her or me so last night was the first night we tried to not allow a nighttime drink.

It was a nightmare. I first let her cry to see if she would go back to sleep. This was around 9:30 btw. Her crying turned to screaming so I went in, picked her up, and tried to get her to calm down. Uh no, she wanted a drink and was ticked at me. lol So Spouse tried a turn and she was even more livid with him. Naturally all of this woke up Eldest who now wanted a drink also. Both were crying and then screaming because I left the room.

Well an hour later, we finally got them both back to sleep. Eldest did get up a few more times but Youngest stayed asleep thankfully. They didn't get us up until after nine. 9am I was still sleeping!! It was so nice and needed. Yay for sleeping in!

BP Factory in Whiting, Indiana - PPP

PayPerPost Advertisement

Recently there was an article in the Chicago Tribune about the BP factory in Whiting, Indiana. Now according to the factory, there was a lot of misinformation in that particular article. You can view the article from the Tribune by going here. But if you read that link be sure to also look at this BP Whiting Refinery Fact Sheet for additional information. One thing about articles is that they can be swayed if you will, in favor of the person or people writing it. So you always have to take into account both sides of the story. In our world today, there is so much information it’s hard to know what to believe and what not to. Especially when it comes to a topic like this one about gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel that is produced at the Whiting Refinery. If you took a minute to read through the Refinery Fact Sheet, then you will have read that they release only treated water into Lake Michigan. The company tries to follow all state and federal guidelines, regulations, and laws. No harm has come to the environment or to any individuals. Just like a lot of companies, Whiting Refinery is always trying to improve their facility to make it more beneficial to the environment. They have already reduced the amount of total suspended solids in the water discharge by 40%. Continue to read and you will find a lot of information on this.

Call Your Mom

My mom moved closer to the rest of my family almost two years ago. But it saddens me that even though she has her own kids right down the street they rarely help her. My mom isn't one to ask for help for just anything. She only asks when she really needs it. But my siblings are so stubborn and act like they're really put out by even the thought of helping her.

We went up to see her yesterday and to give her a computer to use. While there, there were so many things she needed help with. We took care of everything that she needed and more. She's my mom and I love her and I'll do anything to help. Why can't my brothers and sister do the same? It really frustrates me.

So, if you haven't in awhile, call your mom. Tell her you love her. Ask if there's anything you can do. Our moms have done so much for us, it's the least we can do for them.

Freeze It - PPP

PayPerPost Advertisement

I’ve had neck pain and headaches for as long as I can remember. I didn’t know why until just recently and I found out that the part of my spine in my neck is bent wrong. The pain is almost an all day, everyday thing so I’m always trying to find new ways to lessen it. Icy Hot has been my medicine of choice for aches and pains. But I never have liked the smell. Not to mention the grimy feeling left on my hands. But I think I’ve finally found something I really like called Freeze It. As you can see from my picture below, I received four samples of this product to test out. Well today my neck was really hurting so I opened up a package and rubbed some on my neck. The first thing I noticed was that it didn’t have an overwhelming smell like Icy Hot does and it didn’t make my fingers feel grimy after application! Within minutes my neck was feeling better. I’m going to have to buy this from now on because I’m in heaven. I love the inexpensive price too making it easier to purchase. So take it from me, this is a great product! One I will be buying in the near future!

S.M.A.R.T. Habit Saturday!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Just a quick recap of last weeks goals. No new habits to add this week, but I'm still trying. My morning prayers and getting to bed early were really awful this week. I've had so much to do and so little time it felt like. But my other goals aren't doing too bad. I do want to say that my goal for positive thinking has been very fulfilling this past week. When I was in a situation where I had a negative thought come into my head, I immediately dismissed it. I found this to be INCREDIBLY liberating! I wasn't standing there continually mulling over that thought and worrying about it. I let it go and I moved on. I know this is like "duh!" but it hasn't always been easy for me.

So I'm loving that goal along with the speaking less. Speaking less has helped me hear things I haven't heard before. So because of that I'm adding on that I want to speak in a softer tone. I did that a few times last week and it helped to change my attitude into a more positive one. I loved it. :) Here's my list and hopefully soon I'll have some new habits!

*Don't spend money before it gets into my account - HABIT!
*Exercise at least three times a week - HABIT!
*Brush/floss everyday - HABIT!
*Entering in receipts - HABIT!

*1 - More patient/understanding - A-
*2 - Say morning prayers - D+
*3 - Teaching my kids to work - B-
*4 - In bed by 10:30pm or sooner - D+
*5 - Better eating - B+
*6 - Thinking before I speak/speaking less/softer tone - B+
*7 - Get girls teeth brushed - A-
*8 - Positive thinking - B+

Save More Money - PPP

PayPerPost Advertisement

Just recently my husband and I went to a costume party. Of course for a costume party you need a costume. So for weeks we tried to figure out what to wear. We finally decided and then the time came to go search for clothes. We found some we were looking for at our local DI but then we had to go to another store to get makeup for our costumes. Driving around to find everything was a pain especially where we wanted to save as much money as possible. But at the same time we were using a lot of gas so it kind of feels like we weren’t saving that much. That’s one of the main reasons why I like to shop online. It’s convenient, doesn’t cost me gas money or mileage on my car, and I can shop at hundreds of stores and compare prices easily. Thanks to help from KeepCash I can use their online coupons to help me save even more money. They have over a 1,000 stores you can use coupons for and that could save you a bundle. I liked looking at Kmart’s coupons because they have backpacks for 25% off which is something we might need this upcoming school year. Remember KeepCash.com, it can help you save on your next online purchase!

Daily Veggies - PPP

You know, I love fruit. I could eat fruit all day long and be happy. But when it comes to eating my vegetables, yeah I don’t do that well. I try to eat the daily recommended amounts for fruits and veggies, but my veggies are always lacking. I really do try but sometimes I just wish it was easier or veggies tasted better so I’d want them more. Well I just read about this new idea called Drink My Daily Veggies. Now this may not sound appealing at first but the thought of getting what you needed from this daily nutritional supplement sounds great to me! So you can either drink your veggies or use this in some simple recipes. Hey, now that’s something I could easily do and incorporate into my everyday life. I love making my life simple and this would do just that. Drinkyourveggies.com also makes it easy by giving you recipes to use and even offering free samples! Free samples are the best because then you can try this out first and see if you like it. I probably would considering how easy it can be to use in meals making them healthier for me and my family.

Ducky's Email

According to snopes.com this may have actually happened. I just reread this today (August 8th) and it still cracks me up! I should have kept the email and emailed all of my friends and family who don't read my blog. Don't you hate it when you think to do something after you've deleted it? lol I may do this more than I should. Drives my husband nuts sometimes but he still loves me. :D

"According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 6th grade girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick, they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.

Every night the maintenance man would remove them and the next day the girls would put them back. Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man.

She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night. To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.

He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it.

Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror."

Ruffled feathers

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. Today I feel like a nut. For the second time, we have been scammed by a seller off eBay. I will probably continue to shop there, I just get really irritated that some people aren't legit. What's wrong with you people???

A month ago we bought Windows XP from a guy on eBay and since then it hasn't worked. The disc looked legit so we began looking at potential problems with the computer we were trying to put the disc on. Friends of ours were stumped over the issue so we finally took the computer and the disc into a professional. We found out the disc was a fake. QUACK!!

Some people...just...grrr! I pray we get the money back. It's just so darn frustrating that some people are out just to get your money. I'm a good person, I'm honest with everyone I meet, I try to do the right thing. So come on people!

So QUACK on you Mr. Seller Guy from eBay that tried to rip me off. I hope you enjoy moulting and have tons of bald spots. So there. lol

Monday Movie Review

Here are the last three movies we ordered from Netflix plus a few we borrowed from some friends.

"Tron" - This was a movie for Spouse and I didn't watch it. He said it was pretty good and he gave it 3 stars.

"Strawberry Shortcake: Meet Strawberry Shortcake" - I only caught parts of this, but it looked really cute. We're girls, we like these kinds of shows. :) 5 stars

"The Pacifier" - We really like this show, it's hilarious and Vin Diesel is great as the main character. It's about a Navy Seal who has to protect this family while the mom is away. I'd probably buy this movie except it had one scene I didn't care for. One of the girls asked Shane (Vin Diesel) if he had boobs and a conversation followed. So dumb that that was in there. 4 stars

"The Best Two Years" - This is an LDS based movie made by LDS people. It's about 4 missionaries in Holland and their experiences. There were a lot of funny parts and this is one we would see again. 4 stars

"RV" - I didn't get to see all of this movie, only about half. It was pretty funny considering it had Robin Williams in it. But there was a lot of language that we didn't like so it gets only 2 stars.

S.M.A.R.T. Habit Saturday!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Another week and another habit created. Entering in receipts is now a habit for me yay! The rest of my goals are still coming along. I've been more conscious about being patient and understanding. I did really well on thinking before I speak and speaking less and I found it to be a very nice change. :)

Getting the girls teeth brushed every night was almost perfect. I've paid a lot of attention to my eating habits and I'm proud to say I'm doing much better. I've really kept an eye on my intake of saturated fats and trans fats. Morning prayers are slowly getting better but it's still my hardest goal. I've slacked a bit on teaching my kids to work but I'm going to pick this one back up.

As for bedtime by 10:30 that didn't go well at all. I tried but most nights my girls woke up and kept me up and I've been helping a friend. But I still gave myself an A- because there was only one night when I didn't go to bed because of my own doing. The others were service so that counts as ok right? lol

I am going to add a new goal this week since I've created another habit. This week I want to work on thinking positively. Especially when it comes to myself, I'm going to stop cutting myself down for the little things and the big ones and just accept me for me. I also want to work on not guessing what other people are thinking about me. If someone says something I'm going to take it with a grain of salt and not second guess what they are "really" saying/thinking.

*Don't spend money before it gets into my account - HABIT!
*Exercise at least three times a week - HABIT!
*Brush/floss everyday - HABIT!
*Entering in receipts - HABIT!

*1 - More patient/understanding - B+
*2 - Say morning prayers - C+
*3 - Teaching my kids to work - D-
*4 - In bed by 10:30pm or sooner - A-
*5 - Better eating - B+
*6 - Thinking before I speak/speaking less - B+

Hot Tub Covers - PPP

PayPerPost Advertisement

Even though it’s blazing hot outside, the thought of sitting in a hot tub sounds really good right now. For tired and sore muscles, a hot tub is the perfect cure. I’ve actually never owned one but I have had friends who have them and family who does. One day I’d like and hot tub and if I do, I’d make sure to have Hot Tub Covers. At TheCoverGuy.com they have a great selection of covers for your hot tub at some competitive prices. I like that they have specific kinds of covers based on the weather where you live. When looking for a hot tub cover, remember TheCoverGuy.

CRD

Have you heard about the CRD? I'm sure most of you have. I come encounter with it every day and if I'm lucky, more than once in twenty-four hours. This makes my day truly special and we have so much fun over here when it's activated. My children are so privileged to each have one.

If you've never heard of this you should be jealous. A child-radar-detector, CRD, allows a child to detect when their parents aren't paying attention for that split second, and they reek havoc. Oh yes, this is the good stuff. The stuff you write home about and tell all your friends how proud you are. Here are some examples of the CDR in action.

Example #1 - Spouse just cleaned up one child and turns to get another paper towel. I'm feeding Baby-Baby and turn away for a split second. Eldest's CDR clicks on like an egg timer. Time slows down as she dumps her milkshake into her lap. One second passed and we see the aftermath. We now have a milkshake for a daughter, we should her Chocolita.

Example #2 - Eldest and Youngest run into my room to supposedly get books. Instead of following them, I decide to sit down for a minute. I mean they are my children, why shouldn't I trust them? Activate CDR. The house is quiet. Birds are heard squawking in the distance. After one minute I get up and go into my room. Both children have dug their fingers into the chest rub and are applying it to themselves.

Example #3 - I'm happily watching my girls play together. I go sit down at the computer and turn away for 2 seconds to refresh a web page. CDR triggered. 2 seconds pass and is followed by screaming. I turn and see Youngest with a black eye.

How did these children inherit such a thing? Why didn't the ultrasound tech pick this up before they were born? This wasn't in my contract. Is there an uninstall button? Off switch? Where's an EASY button when you need one.

Hot tomale

Another hot day here. We haven't had rain in over a month and you can tell. My clothes are sticking to me and I have little desire to do anything. :P Thankfully we have some wind so it's not too bad outside. Our AC unit isn't working as well but with that and our fans it's not too bad inside either. Top it all off with a slushie and we get by. lol

How are you keeping cool this summer?

Amhboston.com - PPP

I think there is a business for practically everything on the internet these days. Seriously, I’m always hearing about new companies and new business for everything you’d ever want. Amhboston.com is one of these types of companies with many products. I love their bins & totes/racks & rails systems because I like to keep everything organized. They also have modular cabinets and pallet jacks and even conveyors. They have both new and used items and the prices seem pretty reasonable. Ordering from them is easy because you can call their toll-free number or order right online which is so nice. Take a minute to see what’s new!

Slushie Maker

Yes, I could have just used my blender to make slushies but I didn't think of that until after we bought a slushie maker. lol It's been so hot and it helps keep us cooled off. It's fun to share with neighbors and friends too. It was pretty cheap as was the syrup to go with it so that's good. My favorite is red (strawberry or cherry) and Spouse's is blue raspberry. What kind do you like?
