A day to clean

Today, being Tuesday, means I have some cleaning to do. Since I’m in school three days a week, I plan my cleaning for the two days in between. Today I need to clean up the clutter in the office, do some reorganizing in my room and in the girl’s bedroom, wash a few dirty spots on the walls, and clean up in the bathroom. I’m least looking forward to the bathroom, so I may do that first. The tub has been pretty clean but my sink needs love. I don’t have one of those really nice stone vessel sinks, just a normal porcelain one. It will be nice when it’s all pretty and clean, even if it doesn’t last long. :)

It's nice to look

Every now and then I like to browse through magazines with homes for sale. For the most part, I know exactly what I do and don't want. I don’t want a house with more garages than bedrooms, that’s just crazy. Or a house without a basement because you never know when a tornado might come. I don’t like houses with a lot of windows either, for three reasons. First, I like my privacy. Second, can you imagine how much curtains would cost to cover them all? And third, how on earth do you reach the top ones to clean them? I wasn't born with wings you know. What can I say, I’m a simple, realistic kind of gal and that's how my dream house will be. :)

My cranky bed

I’m starting to think that our bed is making us feel worse. When we bought our bed, it felt great. But now, I can count on one hand how many times I’ve actually had a decent night’s sleep. I’m beginning to think it’s our mattress because I’m so sore in the mornings. Of course a lot of things have happened since we bought the bed, like both of us being in school and the girls getting up during the night. I hope it’s just a lot of factors and not our bed because I’d rather not replace it.

I like my light

One of our nightlights died, but we haven’t replaced it yet. I don’t use nightlights because I’m afraid of the dark; I use them so the girls can find their way to our bedroom in the middle of the night, and me to theirs, without walking into a wall. I like having enough light to see what I’m doing, no matter what it is. Even if it’s cloudy outside but you can still see indoors, my indoor lights will be on. When we buy our own home, you can bet that we’re going to have great home lighting. I like my light! :)

Clocks With History

A home is not a home, without a special clock. In my home, we have six clocks and I wouldn’t want to give up any of them. Each clock has a meaning and history that comes with it which is why we hold on to them. Clocks don’t just tell time, they tell a story. Like the one in our kitchen. My husband made it years ago for one of his sisters. She ended up returning it to him because it didn’t match the décor in her home. I love the clock because my husband put so many hours into it and he made it completely from scratch. We have another clock that we bought one year for our anniversary. It’s beautiful and I love to hear it chime. But I’m missing one clock. I would love to be able to say that I owned grandfather clocks. I want one that would be almost as tall as the ceiling and in a rich, dark brown color. I would place in it a corner in my living room so I could sit and listen to it chime. I want my children to grow up and remember listening to the chimes throughout the day. Then when the time comes, I would give the clock to one of them. I see grandfather clocks as a part of heritage thanks to my grandfather who owned one. I love them and want to own one someday. If you would like more information on grandfather clocks, be sure to check out this blog.
