Throwing ideas around

I had a friend mention to me that she was already thinking about what costumes her kids would be in for Halloween. I admit, I haven’t even thought about it yet! We’re not big on the holiday, but I’m thinking this year it might be kind of fun to throw a little kid’s party and send out Halloween invitations. Another friend did that a year ago and my kids had so much fun. So I’m thinking we might do that. I still don’t know what costumes we’ll use, but I figure I have plenty of time to think about it. :)

It's getting close!

Are you one of those people who always try to find the best price before you buy something? I never used to be like that until I had kids. Not that I have a family of four, I am better about finding great deals to save us money. Did you know that if you’re looking for that best buy you can find it at buy.com? I was just browsing their site and it was pretty impressive. They offer a wide selection of items that’s bound to make your shopping for Father’s Day pretty easy. Yes, Father’s Day is right around the corner so you better finish up that shopping and buy.com can help!

Happy Mother's Day!

I've had a pretty good Mother's Day. My husband jumped out of bed (this never happens, he's not a jumper but rather a slow-waker-upper-take-my-time-to-roll-out-of-bed kind of person) and helped get the girls breakfast. After getting ready, I opened a couple a sweet presents and we headed to church. I did my lesson/talk, but neither of which I thought were great. I tried and spent a lot of time on them, but I felt like they fell short. Oh well.

Then at church, the Primary president asked me to stop in before class was over. I did and along with the other mom (there are three kids in primary, two are related, the other is mine lol) the kids sang us a new song they learned about mother's. It was so sweet to see my little three year old grinning and singing to me. It made me feel really good. Then she gave me a little card and wished me a happy mother's day.

After church, hubby let me watch a movie in bed and take a nap. Later we saw the inlaws for a little bit then came home and put the girls to bed. I think I may watch another movie and go to bed myself. Even though I had a nap, I'm still pretty tired.

I hope everyone else had a good Mother's Day. Even if you don't have children, I hope your day went well.

Hello bloggy friends

Just wanted to pop in and give a quick update on us. This past week has been good and crazy. I can't believe it's Saturday already! The girls went to two Easter egg hunts and now have enough candy to last until next Easter. lol The first egg hunt was one that we put on every year for our apartment complex. After the hunt, we put out a bubble blower and chalk and the kids loved it. Our second, and last, egg hunt was this morning with our church. Only 12 kids came to pick up, get this, 600 eggs! I won't be buying more candy anytime soon. :P I went running with my SIL today which I hope helped to burn all the extra calories. (Who's idea was it to have Easter candy around the holiday I'm trying to lose weight? lol)

Along with some extra babysitting, a temple trip yesterday, and time spent with family, that was our week. Busy, but a lot of fun. :)

Valentine's Day love

My holiday started a bit early, just after 6am, and then I headed to school for a math test. What kind of Valentine's Day present is a test, let alone a math test? :P But it's over and the day has been a good one. The girls received some Valentine's from friends and family and we gave them two new computer games. I gave hubby Risk 2210, his favorite game, and he gave me a beautiful necklace.

I think this has been my favorite Valentine's Day. Not because I received jewelry, which was a lovely surprise, but because we didn't get all stressed about it. We enjoyed things as they came and we're all happy. It's been a good day. How was your day?

Valentine's Day is almost here!

It's true, it's less than a month away. We've been talking about what to do for the holiday and how we will celebrate this year. In years past the main gift items were candy and we decided that we don't need any more. So I'm thinking we might get a fun game or two for the girls to play with. I found some cute ones at KB Toys thanks to CouponChief.com. I'm also thinking about buying some projects from Oriental Trading. They have some great dollar deals that I'm going to show my husband later. I think it will be a fun Valentine's Day for the girls this year.

I love this time of year

I especially love the spirit that comes with the holidays. We have had a wonderful Christmas and I love the time we have with our children. They have truly made our Christmas special and more meaningful. The light in their eyes as they watched Christmas movies, made special treats, wrapped/unwrapped presents, saw the lights, and sang songs. It wouldn't have bothered me a bit to not receive any presents this year because I am filled with joy just by watching and being with my girls. I was more excited for them than for anything else.

This was the first year that we kept our Christmas presents on a smaller scale. We liked the idea of doing three main gifts for each child, resembling the three gifts that were given to Jesus Christ at His birth. Although some thought it was strange, it helped us to focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Not to mention the decreased amount of stress! Our girls don't need much and what they did receive they loved. Their favorite presents included their own rocking chairs and a little camera. My favorites included the game Scattergories from my husband and one of my favorite movies, "North and South," from Kara.

I hope everyone who reads this also had a wonderful holiday and is enjoying their time with friends and family. :)

Something to remember

Photobucket
When you think about it, almost all of us have someone we look up to that is a celebrity. When we do look up to someone, we usually have some type of memorabilia of that person or from something they played in. But if you’re like me, you may not have any celebrity memorabilia and would like to. I know my husband would love the above picture of the Peanuts cartoon, signed by Charles Schulz. I can get a copy of this from millionairememorabilia.com. This website is so neat! They have memorabilia that includes movies, sports, entertainment, and celebrities. I had fun looking through their selections and so did my husband when I showed him. Their website is easy to navigate through and if you order through the holidays, you can get 15% off some of their listed prices. If you want memorabilia, you want to be sure that you buy from a company that is well trusted. I would never think to buy this kind of thing from let’s say, eBay, just because you don’t know who you’re working out. You don’t want to spend all that money and not have your reward authentic. So don’t just go anywhere, check out millionairememorabilia.com and you will see that they will give you an original, not a fake.

Boy gifts

I know what girls like, because well, I have two girls. But for some reason, I have the hardest time figuring out what boys like. Trying to find gifts for boys has not been easy this year. I had to buy a present for one of my nephews and all I could think of to buy was some cars. Thankfully it turns out, that my nephew wanted more cars, so that’s what he’s going to get. It’s just funny that I’m so clueless about buying boy gifts. I guess I need a boy! lol

Holiday travel

Traveling during the holidays is pretty common. I have friends who are leaving town for Christmas. Some are going across the country while others are headed out of state. My little family will probably take a small trip out of the city on Christmas day. It would be nice to take a family vacation this time of year. We have friends in other states and countries that we’d like to visit, so maybe one of these times we’ll do that. If you are making travel plans, remember to look up dialaflight.com for hotels, travel ideas, and flights; like flights to Canada or anywhere else. Have fun traveling!

Touching

I received this is an email. The email said this is a 12 year old boy that called a local Houston radio station. This really did happen, I looked it up, and I love how true the message is. Things like this make me stop for a minute and really think. God loved us so much that He gave us His only begotten Son. Let's not forget this message, especially during this time of year.

Look at the pretty snow!

We've finally had a decent amount of snow. It's beens snowing since last night and everything today is white. It's really pretty on the ground and on the trees. I think it may be time to buy the girls some snow boots so we can go play in it. They have been so excited to build a snowman. And snow means Christmas is coming! I'd rather have a white Christmas than a brown one. Plus, it gives me a good reason to drink hot chocolate with marshmallows. :)

Do you have snow?

The last few days it's seemed like it was going to snow but no such luck. I don't like how the roads get icy but I do love the way the snow looks on the ground and in the trees. The girls can't wait to have enough snow to build a snowman. I can't wait either, we haven't done that activity in a long time. We were in Utah this past weekend and there was quite a bit of snow down there, but we didn't have any time to play in it. Hopefully some comes our way soon. Does anyone else have snow?

I'm feeling full

I've had way too much banana cream pie and pumpkin roll. I'm afraid to even get on the scale. lol Good thing the pie is gone but there's some pumpkin roll left. It's always the especially good things that are so bad for us. So not fair. I'm glad that I have a SIL coming up today and we might go running next week, so that should help, along with some workouts on the elliptical. I heard from the Biggest Loser last week that the average American gains seven pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years. Yikes! It's so easy to eat a more than we should, so be careful!

December fun

As our children continue to grow up, my husband and I have been trying to expand their horizons, if you will. We like to keep a look out for fun community events, family outings, or well rounded activities. Sometimes that can be hard in our relatively smaller city. But we try to do what we can and our children seem to love it. We have a Christmas event coming up next week that we’re hoping to attend. There will be a lot of Christmas trees decorated for the public to look at and I know our girls would have so much fun. If we lived in Florida, we would make a point to go to the St. Augustine Artwalk. It would be hard not to want to go when they are offering free parking, free sightseeing, and a free event. This artwalk will include showing of the finest collection of eclectric art. The event will take place on December 7th and 8th and then the first weekend of every month after that. With all the music and the exhibits, it is sure to be a fun family event. So if you are in the neighbor, you should pop on over and take a look and enjoy yourself!

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a wonderful day today has been! We started cooking the rolls this morning so our home was filled with wonderful bready-goodness. Of course we had to watch the Macy's Day Parade and the dog show, both traditions. I realized I had cooked my pumpkin roll wrong arrgghhh! so I had to make it again. But everything else turned out great and now we have very full tummies. And apparently my youngest daughter loves deviled eggs.

Besides the yummy food, I'm so grateful for all of my blessings. We have so much to be thankful for! Our family, our home, food to eat everyday, clothes to wear and shoes on our feet, able to be in school, a car that works, good friends, the internet, blankets, movies and that's just the beginning. Not only for today, but for always, we need to remember our blessings and count them everyday.

Have a happy and safe holiday everyone. :)

Give the gift of time

There is a watch I have, but can’t wear, because the battery is dead. It would be nice to get it fixed, but we keep forgetting to take it in. I like wearing a watch and knowing what time it is. I admit, I check the time quite frequently. But I like knowing whether we’re ahead of schedule or behind. My husband picked out my watch and I love it. I’m not picky so a Hamilton watch would have been just fine too. As long as I have something.

Let the cooking begin!

After I finish up some homework, I'm off to start cooking for our Thanksgiving dinner! I need to make a delicious pumpkin roll and some normal white rolls. My eldest daughter is really looking forward to helping me and keeps asking when we're going to cook. I'm not hurrying fast enough. ;) We're going to have fun and I love to cook for the holidays. I will post some pictures of our activities a little later. Have a good day everyone!

Egg nog is the good stuff

I'm so proud, my eldest daughter has tried and now loves egg nog! Woohoo! She's definitely ours because we love egg nog too. I honestly didn't think she would like it, but it came from my glass and apparently my glass has the good stuff in it, so she took a sip. Her eyes widened as she started to drink and then my glass became hers. Funny girl! The only downside I can see to drinking egg nog, is all the saturated fat in it. Why does the good stuff have to be so bad for us?

Presents for him

Every Christmas, every birthday, ever anniversary, my husband usually asks for the same thing, tools. What can I say, he loves his tools and loves to have more. I don't blame him, there are some even I want! lol But now we're at the point where he has a lot of tools and needs more room for them. These storage bins would come in really handy. His love for tools makes it easy for me to find a great presents. But sometimes it's hard to find gifts for guys so remember to look at carguygarage.com to get that manly present for that man in your life. He'll love it!
